PMAD Support Group

Virtual Event Virtual Event

Are you a new mom/gestational parent struggling with anxiety, depression, OCD, or PTSD? You're not alone. 1 in 5 new or expecting mothers/birthing people suffer from a PMAD (perinatal mood and anxiety disorder) otherwise known as postpartum depression. Since the pandemic began - those rates have gone up exponentially. This group provides space for new moms/gestational parents to discuss the honest, real, and hard parts of motherhood/parenthood - the parts that social media and baby commercials go to great lengths to avoid. The feelings of guilt, shame, irritability, exhaustion, loneliness, hopelessness, panic, sadness, regret, longing for who you were before you became a mother, and many more. Group facilitator Paige Bellenbaum, LMSW holds this weekly group for those who want to find a safe space to share, heal, learn coping skills, and connect with others who are going through the same thing.

Having Another Baby After a PMAD Support Group

Having a baby after a PMAD is a personal choice. Some moms/parents decide on “one and done” and others decide they want another baby. Although we know that statistically, women/birthing people who had a PMAD during their previous perinatal experience are at a higher risk to experience one again - this is not always the case. In fact, there are many things that a woman/birthing parent can do to set the stage for a different outcome. But, it does mean you should consider taking precautions now to help prevent a PMAD from occurring again. With the right support, resources, and skills you can better manage your pregnancy and postpartum experience the next time around.
